oil painting portraits from photos

Below we learn about oil painting portraits from photos through the work of three very talented portrait painting artists. Many say the best reference is a live model while others are perfectly at home with a photo reference. Not very many people have access to a live model and a photo reference is good substitute and quite suitable for learning how to paint portraits in my opinion.
