Blending Colored Pencils with Vaseline

February 23, 2019 by Ralph S Leave a Comment

In this colored pencil lesson, the artist will demonstrate blending colored pencils with vaseline or also known as petroleum jelly, which makes the blending of colored pencils an easier, smoother and more enjoyable process. I myself have never tried this technique and cannot vouch for it. I would err on the side of caution while using this technique if you are creating artwork that is meant to last or that you are selling. I have read that the oil inside vaseline may stain your paper or produce other unwanted results in your colored pencil art so proceed with caution. Perhaps you know more about this technique?
