Just like oil and acrylic paint, there are also a variety of watercolor paints available to the beginner.
It is best to start out with a less expensive brand of watercolors in the beginning. As you become more experienced, you can then experiment with more expensive higher quality watercolor paints.
Here are a few recommendations for beginner watercolor artists:
Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolors
Grumbacher Academy Watercolors
I hope this

In reply to Dawn about what watercolour paints to buy
I would advise rather than buy student quality paint which is cheaper to buy
Buy three tubes of Artist Quality paint
Say Permanent Rose -Winsor Blue Red -Winsor Yellow
With these three colours you will be able to mix a whole load of clear colours
The student quality does not give the same mixing results
I would be happy to advise on what colours to use and what they would produce if Dawn would like me to she can e-mail me via my web site
Colour mixing is my passion
Happy Painting Bev
