One of the most difficult and challenging aspects of figure and portrait painting is learning how to mix realistic and believable flesh tones. There really is no set formula to recording flesh tones. The color you use to paint flesh really depends on the rest of the colors in your painting. Its the relationship of colors in your painting that is most important. That being said however, it is always helpful to have a starting point or to see how other artists record human skin on canvas. The following post contains resources to help you. I have done my best to include information on a variety of mediums including oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor and pastels.
