Oil paint is one of the most versatile painting mediums in existence today. There are a variety of different ways to manipulate oil paints . Oil paint can be applied in thin transparent glazes or in thin washes to mimic the properties of watercolor paint. The paint can be also be mixed to a thick buttery consistency and applied using a painting knife. It can be applied very slowly in numerous layers, or a painting can be completed in one sitting. It appears there is really no end to the enjoyable ways you can create art with this fantastic medium. So without further ado , lets being our talk on oil painting techniques.
Dry brush
The dry brush technique is when you apply a stiff dry paint with a dry brush onto a dry surface. This technique works particularly well with a rough surface. The raised parts of your surface pick up the paint, while the dips or valleys in your support do not. This creates a broken color effect where the color of your canvas shows through.
