Oil painting is a very popular medium and there are a variety of different paint manufacturers on the market today, which tends to confuse most beginners.

Since you are new to oil painting, it is probably best to begin with a descent quality student grade oil paint. A student grade oil paint will serve its purpose well until you become more experienced.

I recommend looking into the following student grade oil paints:

Winsor & Newton Winton Oils

Grumbacher Academy Oils

Daler-Rowney Georgian Oils

I hope this has helped. Good luck and happy painting.
