I just learned that photography and painting are inter related arts. Lights, color blending, details are just the few that are needed to get a a beautiful work. Both need passion and enthusiasm to get the best of it.

Helpful tips. I find it very useful. I've been practicing painting for over months now using my photos. This gave me an idea how to paint effectively.

I do children murals and I find it’s easier to use projectors then add my own details and I have built a reputation for doing quick, professional and great looking work. These article has a good point. I believe in combining your skills, tricks, technology, and everything you learn.

I was really happy to see this article. I have always used photos to base my paintings on and have met with a lot of critisism from people. I finally started to feel like I'm some fraud calling herself an artist. I don't reproduce the photograph and the final product is a true painting and has no resemblance to a photo. Things are added and others taken off as I see fit. I have always wished I could paint from real life but have not the time nor the opportunity to do so. And today I read that it is an acceptable way to start a painting and am happy about this! Thank you for the information. I do agree that if whatever method you use adds to the totalness of the final creation, it is immaterial whether your source was a photo or somting from real life.

You could make quite cool decorations with this type of equipment - still remember my father protraiting a large Donald Duck over my huge bedroom wall when I was a child!
