Great tree! I did one sort of like that, a lady’s face, only it had bleeding hearts instead of leaves. My Doctor would like yours much better. (She found mine disturbing! Ha Ha) Great job.

The perspective on a hill looking over to a horizontal focal point is cool. It certainly gives depth to the painting. The twisting tree trying to give rise to its lively meaning definitely is meaningful, although it’s only minor to open interpretation. The light within the piece could be more contrasted to give it an even more realistic picturesque. Sweet piece.

This is absolutely lovely!
The feeling of peace and serenity abounds throughout the painting.

Hi Nicole,

This is a very expressive, lovely painting, capturing the emotion you felt about this subject!

The only suggestion I would make is to incorporate some of the color of the greens and beige, found in the background and in the leaves, into the trunk and branches of the tree. Maybe even a little of the blue in the sky could be added to the trunk and branches. By doing this, the tree is connected to the entire painting, even if you really don’t SEE this in your subject!

The “spanish moss” shapes hanging from the tree are all going in one direction, to the left side of the painting. Maybe a little variety in thickness and direction of the “moss” shapes would add variety
to the shapes in the tree.

This is a vary emotional painting!

I like this piece, because it is creative and fresh. I particularly liked the movement of the leaves and the background, which seemed so real and if it wasn’t for the fantasy side, the figure brought to the image (again creative) I would have believed I was there.

Oh, to just sit and watch and listen to the quiet and peace this painting evokes.

The colors and softness are good. At first glance, I thought maybe some yellow ochres or whites added for a little contrast, but the softer colors help portray your feeling about the scene.

Hi Nicole, my first impression what a lovely peaceful scene and then I saw the tree. I pictured a soul longing to be free and reaching out but at the same time rooted to the earth. A painting with a difference.

Like minds I guess! I was just thinking about Bok Tower just the other day, comtemplating on doing a series of watercolor paintings of the areas beauty! A person in the shape of a tree had come to mind, (deja vu) now I’ll have to rethink this concept again. At the moment if I follow thru with this it will have to be from memory seeing I don’t know where I stashed all my pictures of that area? I can always contact an old friend of mine that lives within view of the Bok Tower as well as works in the tower itself

I like this painting, but what really impressed me was the tree and how you incorporated the human form into it. I always like those hidden surprises. A lot of aboriginal paintings draw the connection between man and nature. This was awesome/
