I am impressed. The grass looks so...real. There's a slight mist in the atmosphere too. Great job.

Hi Christy,
You have captured the feeling of loneliness in your painting, and one wonders what "stories" this barn could tell! So many old barns are 'falling by the wayside' in today's world, and by having painted it, you have preserved it. Nicely done!

One of the things I like to do when I paint buildings that have dark shaped areas in them, as the barn door and the two shadow areas in your barn, is to put some of the color from the surrounding areas of the painting into these dark shapes. Maybe some of the blue from the sky could be put into the doors of the barn or into those dark shadow shapes. Some of the green from the grass could also be used in these dark areas. By doing this, those dark shadow shapes and doors would be a bit more interesting to look at. I know that you do not see this when you are looking at the photo of the barn, or the barn in front of you if you are painting on location, but it would be a great way to connect the barn (via color usage) to the rest of the painting.

Keep up the good work and happy painting! Thanks for sharing!
