I like the painting. Yes colors are vibrant as they should be for the idea being given in the painting yet a style I’ve seen before where the people or main focus is elongated. Bravo I also see a lot of texture. Myself just learning acryllics thinks that’s neat.

    Hi Caroline,

This painting grabbed me! It is mysterious and allows the viewer to explore within the painting. Good job!

I would like to offer a few comments. To me, much more drama would have been accomplished had the light area to the left of your painting been moved over a bit to the right to have the figure on the left and part of the figure on the right take a bite out of this light shape. The figure on the right could then be in partial shade adding to the mystery. More emphasis would therefore have been on the left figure, adding more focal interest to this area of your painting.

The texture that you used could have been used more within the figures and less in the leaves shapes. By doing this, more emphasis is being placed on those nicely painted figures. Then add A LITTLE of the texture to the surrounding area to support the figures.

I also feel that the branch extending to the left of your painting is very strong and draws the eye out of the painting. This is because of the strong value CONTRAST between the branch and the light background. This is in the lower left of your painting and draws the viewers attention away from the figures because of the direction and value. Squinting through your eyes to see these shapes is a real useful tool!

I really like this painting and the mysterious feeling that you have captured. Thank you so much for sharing this with us and KEEP PRACTICING and KEEP PAINTING!

    Ingrid ;-)

Very neat use of color and texture. You’d never know you didn’t have formal training. This would look very lovely in any living room.

Even though this is not my style of painting, I find this very interesting. Your use of line and color are intriguing. Thank you for sharing.

I like it. It’s interesting. It begets more questions than it answers. Who are these people? What is their relationship? Where are they going and why? Are they facing their past or fearing their future? I’d like to see ten people give an opinion of what this painting means to them. I bet we would get ten different answers. Bravo for making us think (dream).

    Dear Caroline,
I love your style it is one that I have attempted in the past and now have decided I would like to try it again. The mystery behind the painting is intriguing and it truly makes ones imagination wander. My only suggestion is that the figure on the left has the same shadow lighting as the one on the right. But then again I am also a self taught artist and like you art is a passion and an expression of the heart and not merely a technical accuracy.
    God Bless and keep painting

It is different, but I like it. I like the light sourse. Kind of smoky looking. My eyes keep going that way.
